Programme Lay out
Training
The programme runs for an entire year with specific monthly thematic policy area focuses. Each quarter has a specific month dedicated to a technical study on policy processes i.e. Policy Making, Policy Implementation, Policy Evaluation, and the final quarter will be for participants to write their articles for a policy brief.
The rest of the months shall be dedicated to a specific policy thematic area with physical and online meetings with guest speakers. The topics are all selected based on national, regional, and global factors. Therefore, content is not only based on merely Ugandan experiences but regional and Global as well. Participants will also be able to benefit from the DEI Policy Eye and CEPA resources in the form of literature, videos, and podcasts to support their learning. These sessions will be conducted both in a hybrid manner with some attended physically and online.
Mentorship and Coaching
The programme offers a mentorship plan where participants share their plan of career growth at the start of the programme and they are supported on how to achieve their goals. The participants are offered coaching skills in policy analysis and writing. Every participant has to deliver a policy brief with the support of a coach throughout the 3 months. Participants also have monthly individual and group exercises that will enhance their capacity to analyze public policies and write analytical think pieces. Participants also have the opportunity to share their work for review and publishing in various influential spaces.
Networking
The programme offers the opportunity to meet with national, regional, and Global policy influencers who share lived experiences of what it takes to move policies from theory to practice. Under closed-door sessions, participants can confidently share their own experiences and seek support from experts on how they can improve their performance from experienced guest speakers and facilitators. Most importantly the programme allows participants to share experiences and expertise through peer-to-peer learning. The programme also shares other career growth opportunities for participants to enroll and continue receiving support during the process.
